Loctite 609 - Retaining Compound - 50ml

High-Strength Adhesive for Cylindrical Parts

₹450.00

LOCTITE® 609 is a one-component, high-strength, general-purpose anaerobic retaining compound designed for bonding close-fitting cylindrical metal parts. It is particularly suitable for locking bushings and sleeves in housings or on shafts, augmenting press fits, and securing cylindrical assemblies.

LOCTITE 609 is a low-viscosity green liquid that cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. Once cured, it creates a high-strength bond that helps prevent movement and provides corrosion protection within the joint.

How LOCTITE 609 Works

LOCTITE 609 is applied to the mating cylindrical surfaces before assembly. When the adhesive becomes confined between the metal surfaces and oxygen is excluded, the anaerobic curing process begins.

The cured material fills the small clearance between the components, creating a strong bond across the cylindrical interface. This can help reduce movement between components and improve the reliability of assemblies that otherwise depend primarily on a mechanical press fit.

Suitable Materials

LOCTITE 609 is recommended for metal cylindrical assemblies. It is particularly suited to close-fitting metal components such as shafts, bushings, sleeves and housings.

Surface Preparation

For best performance, mating surfaces should be clean, dry and free from excessive oil, grease and other contamination. The adhesive can be applied manually or using suitable dispensing equipment. On less-active metal surfaces, an appropriate activator may be considered where faster or more reliable curing is required.

LOCTITE 609 for Press-Fit Assemblies

A key application for LOCTITE 609 is augmenting press fits. The retaining compound fills the small clearance between mating cylindrical surfaces and provides additional retention after curing.

This makes it useful when a shaft, bush, sleeve or similar component requires additional security beyond the mechanical interference fit.
