Loctite 406 - Instant Adhesive - 20g

Loctite406 is a one-component, low-viscosity cyanoacrylate instant adhesive specially designed for fast bonding of plastics, rubbers, and elastomeric materials. Its exceptionally low viscosity allows it to form a very thin adhesive film and penetrate small gaps between closely fitting components, providing fast fixturing and rapid assembly.

LOCTITE 406 is particularly suitable for applications where fast bonding, low adhesive gap filling, and reliable assembly of plastic and rubber components are required. It cures by reacting with moisture on the surfaces and is supplied as a clear liquid.

Bonding Difficult Plastics

Some plastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and PTFE can be difficult to bond with conventional instant adhesives. Henkel specifies that LOCTITE 406 can be used with LOCTITE SF 770 primer to enable assembly of these difficult-to-bond materials.

How to Use LOCTITE 406

Clean and dry the surfaces to be bonded.

Remove oil, grease, dust and other contaminants.

Apply a small amount of LOCTITE 406 to one of the mating surfaces.

Assemble the components immediately.

Hold the parts together until sufficient fixture is achieved.

Allow the adhesive to develop its bond before placing the assembly under service loads.

For difficult-to-bond plastics such as PP, PE and PTFE, use the recommended LOCTITE SF 770 primer according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Temperature Resistance

LOCTITE 406 has a stated operating temperature range of approximately -40°C to +120°C (-40°F to +250°F). Actual joint performance can depend on substrate, joint design, surface preparation and environmental conditions.
