Loctite 290 - Threadlocker - 50ml

Medium Strength Adhesive Sealant

₹475.00

LOCTITE 290 is a green, low-viscosity, medium-to-high strength anaerobic threadlocker designed for locking and sealing threaded fasteners. Its thin, wicking formulation flows into the engaged threads by capillary action, making it particularly suitable for pre-assembled fasteners where disassembly before application is not practical.

Once confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, LOCTITE 290 cures anaerobically to help prevent threaded fasteners from loosening and leaking due to vibration and shock. It is also suitable for sealing porosity in welds, castings and powdered-metal components.

Threaded assemblies exposed to vibration

Henkel specifically identifies LOCTITE 290 for pre-assembled fasteners such as instrumentation fasteners, electrical connectors and set screws.

Wicking Action

One of the main advantages of LOCTITE 290 is its low viscosity and wicking capability. The liquid can flow between already-engaged threads through capillary action, allowing the product to be applied after the fastener has been assembled.

This makes LOCTITE 290 useful when access to the threaded joint is limited or when taking the assembly apart simply to apply threadlocker would be inconvenient.

Vibration and Shock Resistance

Threaded fasteners used in pumps, gearboxes, presses and other machinery can experience vibration and shock during operation. LOCTITE 290 cures between close-fitting metal surfaces and helps prevent fastener loosening under these conditions.

Porosity Sealing

In addition to threadlocking, LOCTITE 290 can be used for porosity sealing in suitable welds, castings and powdered-metal components. Its low viscosity allows it to penetrate small porous areas and help seal potential leak paths.

Recommended Substrates

Henkel lists LOCTITE 290 for use with metals including:

Steel

Stainless steel

Brass

The product cures anaerobically between close-fitting metal surfaces.

How to Apply LOCTITE 290

Clean the surfaces: Remove oil, grease, dirt and other contaminants from the fastener and surrounding area.

Assemble the fastener: LOCTITE 290 is designed to be applied after the threaded components have been assembled.

Apply the product: Apply a small amount at the junction of the nut and bolt or directly onto the accessible threaded area.

Allow it to wick: The low-viscosity adhesive penetrates the engaged threads by capillary action.

Allow curing: Avoid disturbing the assembly while the adhesive develops its initial strength.

Put into service: Allow sufficient curing time for the requirements of the specific application.

Henkel recommends cleaning/degreasing surfaces before application and demonstrates application at the nut-and-bolt junction for assembled fasteners.

Disassembly

LOCTITE 290 can generally be disassembled with standard hand tools. For assemblies where normal tools cannot provide sufficient torque, Henkel recommends localized heating to approximately 260°C and disassembling while hot.

Industrial Applications

LOCTITE 290 is used across applications involving threaded metal assemblies, including automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance and repair, oil and gas, power generation, electric motors, fluid power, fluid processing and remanufacturing.

Why Choose LOCTITE 290?

LOCTITE 290 is particularly useful when a medium-to-high strength threadlocker is needed on an already-assembled threaded connection. Its low-viscosity wicking action allows application without first disassembling the fastener, while its anaerobic curing mechanism helps secure the joint against vibration-related loosening and leakage.
