Loctite - 262 Threadlocker - 50ml

LOCTITE® 262 is a red, high-strength, general-purpose anaerobic threadlocking adhesive designed to lock and seal threaded metal fasteners. It helps prevent nuts, bolts and threaded assemblies from loosening due to heavy shock, vibration and dynamic loads. The product is thixotropic and is particularly suitable where migration of the adhesive needs to be minimized. 

LOCTITE 262 cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. Once cured, it forms a strong polymeric bond within the threads, helping secure the assembly and provide resistance to vibration-induced loosening.

How LOCTITE 262 Works

After application to the threads and assembly of the components, LOCTITE 262 remains liquid while exposed to air. When confined between mating metal threads, the anaerobic adhesive cures and forms a strong bond.

This helps:

Provide more reliable retention than relying solely on mechanical friction.

Surface Preparation & Application

For best performance, surfaces should be clean and free from oil, grease and other contamination. Henkel recommends using a suitable LOCTITE cleaning solvent before assembly. For inactive metals or when faster curing is required, an appropriate LOCTITE activator can be used. �

For a through-hole assembly, apply several drops to the bolt in the area where the nut will engage. For blind holes, apply the product to the lower portion of the internal threads or the bottom of the blind hole. Assemble and tighten as required. 

Removal

Because LOCTITE 262 is a high-strength threadlocker, removal can require significantly more force than medium-strength threadlockers. Henkel's technical information recommends applying localized heat to approximately 250°C and disassembling while hot when necessary.
