Loctite 222 - Threadlocker - 50ml

Low Strength Adhesive for Fasteners

₹550.00

LOCTITE 222 is a purple, low-strength anaerobic threadlocker designed for locking and sealing small threaded fasteners. It is particularly suitable for small screws and fasteners up to approximately 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) in diameter, especially where future adjustment, servicing or disassembly may be required.

LOCTITE 222 cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. It helps prevent threaded fasteners from loosening because of vibration and shock while still allowing removal with ordinary hand tools.

Applications

LOCTITE 222 is designed for low-strength threadlocking applications such as:

Small screws and fasteners

Adjustment screws

Countersunk head screws

Set screws

Small machine components

Instrumentation

Electrical and electronic equipment

Pumps

Gearboxes

Presses

Electric motors

General industrial maintenance

It is particularly useful for assemblies where the fastener may need to be removed or adjusted during routine maintenance.

Small Fastener Threadlocking

Small-diameter fasteners can be susceptible to loosening from vibration and shock. LOCTITE 222 fills the space between mating threads and cures to form a solid polymeric material that helps secure the threaded assembly.

Its low-strength formulation is intended for applications where easy future disassembly is important. Henkel specifically recommends it for small fasteners and adjustment-type applications.

Suitable for Aluminium and Brass

LOCTITE 222 is suitable for applications involving relatively low-strength metals such as aluminium and brass. This makes it useful where a high-strength threadlocker could make subsequent servicing or removal difficult.

Easy Disassembly

One of the main characteristics of LOCTITE 222 is its low-strength design. Unlike high-strength threadlockers that may require heat for removal, LOCTITE 222 can generally be removed using ordinary hand tools. This makes it appropriate for equipment requiring periodic adjustment or maintenance.

Vibration and Shock Resistance

LOCTITE 222 helps prevent fasteners from loosening under vibration and shock. Henkel lists applications including pumps, gearboxes and presses where threaded assemblies can experience dynamic loads.

How to Apply LOCTITE 222

Clean the threads: Remove oil, grease, dust and other contaminants.

Apply the adhesive: Apply a small amount of LOCTITE 222 to the threaded area.

Assemble the parts: Install the screw, bolt or threaded component and tighten to the required torque.

Allow curing: Leave the assembly undisturbed while the threadlocker develops its initial strength.

Service the assembly: Allow sufficient curing time before exposing the joint to demanding loads.

For passive metals or challenging curing conditions, follow the manufacturer's technical documentation for the appropriate preparation and curing procedure.

Maintenance and Repair Applications

LOCTITE 222 is well suited to maintenance applications where threaded components need to remain secure during operation but may need to be removed later. It can be used on small screws in machinery, instruments, electrical equipment and other assemblies requiring low-strength threadlocking.

LOCTITE 222 vs. Medium- and High-Strength Threadlockers

LOCTITE 222 is intended for low-strength applications. It is therefore different from medium-strength products such as LOCTITE 243 and high-strength products such as LOCTITE 262.

LOCTITE 222: Low strength; small fasteners; easy removal.

LOCTITE 243: Medium strength; general-purpose threadlocking.

LOCTITE 262: High strength; applications requiring more permanent locking.

The appropriate grade should be selected according to fastener size, required locking strength and service/maintenance requirements. Henkel categorizes LOCTITE 222 as its purple low-strength option for small fasteners.

Industries and Applications

LOCTITE 222 is used in applications associated with:

Industrial maintenance and repair

Industrial manufacturing

Automotive aftermarket

Electric motors

Machinery maintenance

Small mechanical assemblies

Instrumentation and equipment

Henkel currently lists automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance and repair, industrial manufacturing and electric motors among the related market segments.

Packaging

Henkel currently lists LOCTITE 222 in packaging options including 10 ml, 50 ml and 250 ml bottles in certain markets. Packaging availability can vary by region.
